Giants Fan Fest 2012

Nakai, Cody and I got up early and drove up to the SF Giants 2012 Fan Fest. We got in line at 9am, and hour before the gates were to open.

Line at 9am, the stadium is about a mile long. Nakai and I didn't say anything to each other at first but I'm sure we both thought, umm, lets just go home. Glad we didn't, it turned out to be a beautiful day and fun!

Oh, the line seriously doubled in the next hour.

We got Cody this sweet Buster Posey jersey, and had chicken strips and the famous garlic fries as we sat in the warm sun on the right field wall with McCovey Cove at our back. Unfortunately we didn't get any autographs which is a big reason why we went, but after we waited in that first line we weren't about to wait in any more. We really had a good time and a Cody birthday for Nakai and I to remember and tell Cody about when he's older.

A typical Saturday night at our house is fairly low key, everyone is home and hanging out. Not last week, Jen and Julia went to the Sharks game and Sean and I went to his new Companies holiday dinner. Bea and Cody Boy had one of the girls from their daycare come by to watch them and they love when she comes over!

Monteray Bay Aquarium

We went to the Monteray Bay Aquarium. We saw sea turtles, sharks, otters, penguins, and tons of fish. Brooklynn was able to touch star fish and sea kelp which she loved.

Christmas was amazing this year! Seeing it through Brooklynn's eye's is such a blast!

We got to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas with JJ. Bea and Cody loved it!

Sean's birthday was on Saturday and we had a surprise party for him and was he surprised, he had NO clue what was coming. We had A LOT of help getting this party together and could not have done it with some really wonderful people. I BIG heartfelt Thank you to Rudian and Julie for having the party at their house, Mike and Michelle for bringing the wine and beer, Mom and Chuck for getting drinks, Nakai for videoing and helping with the kids, and my sister Jen for helping me with it all.

I love you Sean and I hope you had a wonderful Birthday.

Last weekend we all went out to the ranch and by all I mean Sean, Cody, Brooklynn, Nakai, Jennifer, Jade (Nakai's girlfriend), and me. It was fun to have everyone out there and of course Brooklynn had a blast, the girl is a walking, talking good time.

Yes Bea does share her carrots with the horses.

Brooklynn laid down in the arena and made sand angels. The girl is a firm believer that "a little dirt doesn't hurt!!"

Let me tell you, there is not much cuter things in this world then Bea's buns in panties. It is VERY typical for Miss Thing to be in just her panties with one cheek hanging out...

Family Road Trip

Last week we went on a road trip to the LA Coast for a family reunion on my mom's side of the family. My sister, brother, brother's daughter Darby, Bea, Cody, and I all drove down to LA together. Thank goodness my sister and brother (and Nakai on the way home) were there to help with the drive, Cody was a rock star and Bea did very well...

We didn't get a lot of pictures but here are a few from one of our stops:

The family reunion was so wonderful! Bea and Cody LOVED their cousin Sarah, I want to take her with me on all my vacations she is the BEST babysitter!!!

We spent 2 days on the beach which Brooklynn loved. She would put her bathing suit on first thing in the morning and couldn't wait to get to the beach. She loved the waves and would scream "the BIG ONE is coming". It was way too cute! Of course a day at the beach makes for a sleepy Bea and there is no better place to nap then on your Gram!

Brooklynn loves pancakes, in fact I think we have had them for breakfast every Saturday and Sunday for the past 6 months. At Brooklynn's school they celebrate the kids birthdays with a circle of life. The parents bring in pictures that are placed around the circle. The child then walks around the circle as many times as they are old while showing their friends the pictures. Here is Brooklynn with her circle of life.

Brooklynn had her friend Sawyer walk with her (by the way Sawyer and Bea were caught kissing on the playground).

Bea decided she needs more than one boy to walk with her so she has another friend join her to walk around her circle (actually she was being really shy and needed extra encouragement).

After the school celebration we headed home for presents!!

I just love these pictures of Cody and his Auntie. I really don't know what we would have done without Jen and Nakai living with us. They are such a big help with the kids and we are so thankful to have them living with us!!!

Ok, it's been a while since the last post, wish there we a lot of pictures from all the business but there really aren't. We did visit Jenn & Andy and the kids in Colorado a couple weeks ago. We had a great time there. It was so cool to see Brooklynn play with her cousins; she seemed to start talking even more after the week with the big kids.

Sharing...this is something that we have been working on and is quite evident when your with so many kids. Cali shows Bea how to share; thank you Cali Cakes.

We spent the morning at the museum, Brooklynn took her shoes off in the animal exhibit and ran around like a crazy woman, she just loved all the bears. That's Lucy and Uncle Andy to the left.

Trace was so good with the kids and just loved to take care of Cody boy. Thank you Trace, you are so sweet!

Jenn was playing around with my camera and of course no prob for her she snapped this great shot.

We were lucky to have Jenn take us out on a photo shoot to get some family photo's, this is just a sample, stay tuned for future post.

Bea had such a great time playing with all the kids toys, the basement was full of new activities, this fireman's hat one of the many she liked. We loved the basement too, such a great place for the kids to just be creative and play.

Uncle Andy constructed a great GeoTrax's set. This was Bea's first experience with a train set, she absolutely loved it. In fact, notice she's in her PJ's, I caught her sneaking off to play with the train when she was supposed to be going to bed.

Wonderful Weekend in Santa Ynez

We've been looking forward to returning to Santa Ynez since we left the Colt's home last year. So as planned, on Friday afternoon we all hopped in the Yukon and drove the 250 miles to meet up with the Gravenkamps at the Colt's home again this year.

Last year it was just Brooklynn and Judah, this year Finn and Cody were added to the bunch. Kris and Jody were just so welcoming and made it work quite comfortably for us all, we all slept well, ate even better, and enjoyed a great time with each other and had even more fun watching our kids play together. Thanks again Kris, Jody and Judah for the great weekend.

On the drive down we ended up stopping in lovely Gonzalez; not by choice but because when the baby boy is hungry you stop at the next exit. We stopped by McDonald's, ate in the car in the parking lot and were all happy and ready to get back on the road again. Although we all look just chipper in this photo it wasn't quite so nice the entire drive. Cody attempted to break Brooklynn's year old screaming record but fell just short of it. To add to Mom's enjoyment Brooklynn was tired and had mom fetching her pony, blanket, Elmo, and needed a bottle of which we didn't have any warm milk for. We improvised and warmed the milk with the car heater and we finally got the kids to sleep somewhere near Pismo beach with only 50 miles to Santa Ynez.

Saturday at the beach, Cody was soothed by the sound of the waves.

Easter Weekend

Easter weekend fun, so much fun that we were all a bit tired on Monday morning and afternoon. Bea had three easter egg hunts, starting with the one at daycare on friday, of course swim lessons on saturday, and two hunts on Sunday. Family came over for the late easter egg hunt and dinner at our house, we had a nice pork roast, scalloped potatoes, and green beans, pie and lots of candy.

We visited Katie's co-worker and her husband and their six month old son who live in half moon bay. It was a very nice lunch and the weather was nice so we walked out their front door, crossed the street, headed down a short path, and onto the beach.

Katie's good friend Krissy's son turned one so we took the kids to the birthday party, which by the way was epic. Sand box, pools, fountains blow ups, massive bounce house, balloons, water balloons, electric four wheeler, cotton candy machine, hot dogs, popcorn machine, pretzels, churro's, pinata, cup cakes, lots of toys, and did I mention an awesome bounce house...and plenty of food and drink for the grown ups.

Hi Cody!

Auntie told us about a new park 'Parma' on Camden Ave, so Daddy took the kids there while Katie and Auntie took cousin Nakai to his basketball game. Bea is just so strong and confident, she loves to hang on things and swing her legs around, she goes down the slide face first, climbs up the ladders, and enjoys the big kids jungle gym more than the one her size. I didn't think it was possible for her to get any cuter than she already is, but everyday she's cuter; just love that smile...

We haven't been to the ranch in so long, and since the weather was just so nice Katie was itching to go, so we picked up Bea from daycare and headed out after I got off work.

My Sweet Little Angel

Brooklynn was a little under the weather Monday and Tuesday so that meant she stayed home with Mommy and little brother Cody. Now I realize that there are millions of stay at home moms with kids out there but the idea that I was going to have Bea and Cody all by myself was a bit scary (keep in mind I am not supposed to be lifting Brooklynn for 2 more weeks). Thank goodness my mom was able to come down in the afternoons to help me.

What I realized on Monday and Tuesday is that my little Brooklynn is such a sweet sweet Angel. She was a very good girl for mommy, Brooklynn played well by herself, she brought things to Cody that she thought he might need (at one point we had 3 blankets for Cody), and she gave lots of kisses to Cody.

I was so proud of myself on Tuesday, I was able to put on make-up, do my hair, go for a 2 mile walk, and do a load of laundry while watching both kids. I know this doesn’t sound like a big accomplishment but it was to me!!!!

Hmmm, Mr. Cody started out at 8lb - 12oz, dropped to 8lb - 3oz when we left the hospital, and now in a week has gained 13oz to 9lb - 0oz...how much will Cody weigh at his next checkup in two weeks? Any guesses???

Katies was amazing today giving birth to our little boy, and he wasn't so little...8 pounds 12 ounces. Born at 2:19pm today, 20.5 inches long, and of course he showed up with the Legge family (Katie's mom's side of the family) nose, unmistakable. Momma and baby are both doing really well, we will be in the hospital for the next couple of day while Katie heals from the C-Section.

We have started swim lessons again and Brooklynn is loving it. I have been the one swimming with her since I won't be able to for awhile once our baby boy arrives.

Girly Girls

My little girl is such a girly girl already. She likes to play with my make up brushes and hair things, LOVES my jewelry and getting her nails painted. She is particular about what shoes she wears and is starting to get that way with her clothes as well. But don't worry too much, this little firecracker isn't afraid of a thing, loves to play in the dirt, knows what football is and throws her hands in the air while saying "Touch Down", and she has a heck of an arm on her if she has a ball in her hand it will be thrown. She may be a girly girl but she has a tough side too that doesn't mind getting dirty. Remind you of anyone???

I got this necklace for xmas and I was going to wear it one day untile Bea saw it she came racing over, took her shirt off and wanted to wear it. Not sure why her shirt needed to come off for the necklace other than it would have been in the way I guess. I now have to get my jewelry out of the jewelry box when my darling daughter is not around.

Joanne decided to retire at the end of this year, so Pam organized a surprise retirement party just before Christmas Dinner. While Katie distracted Joanne by getting her to go change Bea's diaper we broke out the party hats, banner, cake and champagne. When Joanne came back into the kitchen she was surprised...

Finally put lights on the house. Our Willow Glen neighborhood does Charlie Brown Christmas trees on the front lawn, it's nice that most everyone has deathly looking tree in the front yard, it really gets you in the spirit. Seriously though it looks cool at night. Bea likes the dear, and thank you Nakai for helping.

Halloween

We had a great Halloween this year. The Friday before Halloween Sean and I went to a costume party, we waited till Friday to decide to go so we scrambled to get our costumes together. Sean was Bweezy (Brian Wilson from the Giants) and I was a devil. My best friend Krissy was the host of the party and she put on a fun party plus her costume was the best one I saw or heard about this year. We do have a few pictures of it but she made us promise not to post them on the blog, bummer. Let's just say she has a GREAT sense of humor and I applauded her for having such an amazing attitude about life and what it throws at you.

Both Brooklynn and JJ dressed up this year. JJ was a bee and Brooklynn was a Cowgirl. Brooklynn doesn't like things to be on her head right now so she was not about to wear her cowgirl hat for more than 25 seconds, but she does love her boots, cowgirl shirt, and pink cowgirl belt. Thanks to Gram for the super cute outfit!

Pumpkin Carving

Brooklynn had a great time carving her first pumpkin. This girl didn't mind a bit to get her hands dirty!

Brooklynn did inform her daddy that she wanted her pumpkin be a SF Giants sign so that is what her daddy created for her. Of course I don't have a picture of it but Sean did an amazing job on the pumpkin. I'll try to get a pic before it goes bad.

Ok, so we took Bea to Joan's Farm pumpkin patch last year about this time and bought her, her first pumpkin. I took this picture yesterday, this is the same pumpkin from a year ago. It has sat here on our front porch since we bought it. I would check it periodically to make sure hadn't turned to moosh. Silly, but I was really hoping that the pumpkin would make it to see another Halloween, (save me $20). We'll have to say our goodbyes to this old pumpkin and hopefully we can get another one this year that will last too.

Last night Katie, Brooklynn, Jenn, Nakai & I went to see the Giants beat the Diamondbacks 3-1. It was a great game: Lincecum pitched 11 strike outs in 7 innings, Pat Burrell blasted a 3 run home run in the 4th, and Brian "the beard" Wilson closed the game with save #47.

Garrod Farms Horse Show

Spent the day up in the Saratoga hills at Garrod Farms watching Katie participate in five events. Two english events and 3 western events; she took home 2 first place ribbons, 1 second place and two third place ribbons and won the high point for the western events.

RVing at Pismo Dunes

A big thanks to Mike & Michelle and Rudain & Julie for the great weekend we spent on the beach with their sand car, quads, trailer, and RV.

Katie, Bea, Nakai, and his friend Victor and I drove down to Pismo after the boys soccer game (which they won 4-3!). We arrived at 3:30pm, after a long nap Bea was ready to play, and she did. She was in the sand until 7pm, just loving it.

It was a nice evening on the beach, not windy, we had a nice camp fire, grilled some hamburgers and hot dogs, Julie made some nice hummus and brownies, and some nice salads. It was nice to sit around the camp fire and tell stories.

The night and morning in the RV were nice, it's great to camp with an RV. Rudain made some eggs with some nice cinnamon toast, topped with a little coffee from Mike it was a cozy morning. Bea just loved the RV, everything was so new and just fun!

After a ride in the sand car in the morning and a photo shoot with Mike & Rudain in the car it was time to get the RV and truck and trailer off the beach. 45 minutes later and three separate trucks towing, sometimes two trucks at a time, and lots...I mean lots of shoveling we got the damn RV pointed in the right direction and headed down the beach and on our way home.

First time I've ever experienced an RV tow, a tow with a truck pulling a truck, and all on the beach. Lots of testosterone and horsepower, arrrrrrr!
